Don't ever update so soom.last safe update was 10.11.4 according to Rane,Serato,Pioneer etc.if you use multiple hardware like i do (Rane 62 at the Club,Rane MKII & DDJ SX at home,DDJ-SZ when i play with a buddy DJ,Scratch Live when i have too etc),you gotta play it safe always.wait for official support from all your hardware manufacturers to ensure everything will be in working order. I learned the hard way,so you'll have no one to blame but yourself.though many were mad at say Rane when they updated so soon to EL Capitan and nothing worked via RANE gear since their hardware is class compliant but Apple broke that audio compliance before version 10.11.4.Rane's hands were literally tied. No professional ever updates when their gear is working fine until official support is announced.Remember that always no matter how enticing the new features of an OS may be. Quote: Serato needs to sign up for Apple & Windows beta os program and team Serato needs to be getting ready for Sierra ? Beta programs aren't stable until the final product.which brings us back to the same thing.wait until confirmation otherwise you're on your own. A good example is how EL Capitan broke audio compliance standards which RANE relies upon.apple fixed it many months after they had released the final version of EL Capitan.many Rane users were frustrated but Rane couldn't do a thing about it because it was a fix apple needed to implement.that stable version is 10.11.4.so why anyone would take a chance of 10.11.6 beats me. Quote: I have a lot issues with 10.11.6 and 1.9.2.
Updated from Yosemite, so I can't tell if it's 10.11.6 only Personally,i tried using 1.9.2 but it seems buggy to me.so I've stuck to 1.9.1 which has no issues on mac OS X 10.11.4 the officially supported version for now.i told you guys to turn off automatic updates.you're gonna run into more issues as the computer updates. OS X Sierra is also coming out soon but isn't officially supported,so don't update o that either. Install 1.9.1 and you may have better luck. I run my music off externals (even iTunes) and partition my hard drive so I can run different operating systems for different purposes.
So far I have found that running Yosemite 10.10.5 works for me for DJ software. I also have partitions on my macbook pro retina 15 inch-mid 2015 with El capitan and Sierra.
I run DJ software via 10.10.5 though. If you want to upgrade partition the hard drive and run the upgrade on the other partition. Then you can test it out but still be safe and have your previous OS on the computer without any hiccups. Quote: Hey guys need Help! I just recently updated to OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 then update Serato DJ to 1.9.2 and connecting my Rane 62 mixer to update the firmware to be compatible with 1.9.2 but for some reason all it says on the bottom Rane 62 hardware connecting this may take awhile.
If ASU does give you private IP addresses or it has a campus firewall, then you may need to use something like LogMeIn.com, or similar remote sharing clients to get around the fact that you can not implement port forwarding. This is ONLY for accessing your Mac mini from off campus, not for you local use.
Nothing happens after that no connection with my mixer. Anyone can help me resolve this problem I am running 2011 13inch MacBook Pro Sounds like you need to get the El Capitan driver from Rane's website for your 62??. Quote: Install the driver then reconnect. If you still have issues contact support. Good luck Ok so I went on the Rane's Website to download: Sixty-Two CoreAudio Driver 2.0.0b3 for Mac OS X 10.11.4 and higher This driver is compatible with OS X El Capitan 10.11.4 and higher this did not solve my problem it kept saying rane hardware connecting this may take awhile it just kept blinking and stop the Rane mixer still not connected it's trying to connect looks like something is blocking it from processing the connection.
Do I need to buy serato dj at all or go on there subscription plan now cause I know when Serato DJ first was introduce I didn't have to buy it since it was a free upgrade with serato scratch live members and I had to do before was connect the mixer and just upgrade the firmware of my 62's mixer and it work. No the 62 is plug n play for Scratchlive or SDJ there is no need to pay for subscription or upgrade fee. The mixer is so expensive because it's software compatible out the box. Have you tried Scratchlive or does it at least connect for you? Lastly make sure you have all OS X updates for El Capitan and retry. Quote: Install the driver then reconnect. Re-install the firmware.reboot the laptop,re-install 10.11.4 driver and you should be good to go.don't install the driver Serato DJ tell you to.install what you directly downloaded from RANE.i also use a 62 with updated firmware+10.11.4 driver and no problems at all. FYI,I'm running 10.11.4.i never did update to 10.11.6.

So, I am a software engineering student, so I can't really tell you what to expect from a finance standpoint, but I would say, with the possible exception of GIT majors, you don't need a hell of a lot of performance for a laptop to get you through college. I am typing this from a 2017 Macbook Pro, but the PC I had before it worked just fine until the trackpad started screwing up.
Macbooks do tend to last longer (my 2012 Macbook Pro still runs fine as a Fapintosh), though, so you may be able to buy one now and have it last your entire college education. I've never had a Windows laptop last more than 2 years and half of them shit the bed after 1. As far as OS goes, you can boot a Macbook into Windows or Linux if you must run software that isn't compatible with OSX (don't let the Linux part scare you, it's very close to OSX until you open the hood). Also, if you're not an online student, you can just use the computers on campus if you just need a one-off Windows experience.
Specifically commenting on the Macbook Air part of your post, they're not bad, but there's a trade-off when you make something smaller. Personally, I'd rather have an older Macbook Pro than a brand new Air. Then again, I'm a 230 pound guy, so a little extra weight goes unnoticed for me. I feel for finance major, OS choice won't matter much, and if anything you can always bootcamp and use Windows. I would say it depends more on your budget and what OS you are more comfortable with. As the other commenter has said, performance is really not a big issue for most majors IMO.
If you want the most future proof option, definitely try to find something with an 8th gen Intel CPU, as the U-series are quad core rather than dual core in previous gens, and will last a lot longer (in terms of keeping up with performance). I'm not a WP Carey student, but I do type papers up all the time which might be similar? I used bootcamp for programs that were Windows necessary.
I had a couple CS classes that required bootcamp since Mac didn't run the programs. I have a Macbook Air 2015 and I've had it for I guess 3 years now and it's done a good job. It even fell off my lofted bed from like 7ft up and it's still doing great. I use it every day for multiple hours and I think it was worth every penny. I've had non-mac laptops and they usually slow down after the first year or so, especially with the amount of time I'm on my computer.
